Part XVI: Mouth Wash

It was less than a minute before the water caught up to him, washing him along in its wake.

He had pulled in just enough breath that he was able to make a nice set of bubbles in the water when he started screaming. He watched them get churned into the foam of the wave. He watched a tooth flow past him.

Hiro briefly bumped against the tongue of the Great Fish, and tried to get his footing. The wave was too strong, though, and he flipped head over heals towards the gullet of the Fish.

With the teeth disappearing behind him, and the tongue a slick mess, his last hope was the Giant Fish's giant uvula.

It was approaching quickly, and it seemed that Hiro's trajectory would lead him to a point far below it. He started to swim upward.

Pushing against the tide, he slowly began to move towards the surface of the wave, which seemed to be "calming" into a diminishing ocean. The Uvula loomed larger and larger as Hiro rushed towards it.

As his last gasp of air escaped his lips, and the last bit of strength left his limbs, he let out a cry, as he was headed straight for the Uvula.

Literally, straight for it. Hiro slammed into the giant dangly bit of flesh, with the full force of the wave crashing behind him. Combined with the lack of air, Hiro was knocked immediately unconscious*...

*For, I don't know, like, the thity thousandth time in this story.
