X-Ball Hype Doesn't Live Up to Hype

Hype Williams Weighs In

A general feeling of disappointment swept the world today as fans realized the hype for the new X-Ball season was significantly less awe-inspiring than they had been led to believe.

"It just wasn't enough to get me excited," said X-Ball fan Steve Jansen. "I had been reading about the different marketing campaigns they'd be launching for months, waiting for the teaser posters, tv commercials, and ubiquitous merchandise. But all we get is a five continent tour, and a dumb cartoon character who doesn't get to do anything. It's lame."

Fans also expressed shock that a sport as big as X-Ball went from no set first game to suddenly happening with no real warning.

"Usually, I plan a big party for the first game," said X-Ball afficianado Jan Stevesen. "You know, invite all my friends, send out an evite. The usual. This time, I just sort of heard the game was on, so I had to watch it and just, you know, enjoy myself."

Hype Williams, an acclaimed music video director, had this to say: "You know, in this business, hype is everything. Take my movie Belly, for example. Do you remember it? Neither do I. That's because there was no hype. I mean, there was me, but still. Ha, ha. Just kidding. Actually, funny story, I wanted DMX in the movie, so I called him up and said, 'Hey, DMX, get in mah belly!' Ha, ha. Seriously though."

Nakamaji Corp., upset by this development, has promised to hype the heck out of the hype next year. "Trust me," said Hiro Nakamaji, President. "You're going to hear that hype a comin'. You just wait. It'll be huge."
